R2017-03 Level-crossing accident at the Skogby level crossing in Raasepori on 26 October 2017

The Safety Investigation Authority of Finland has decided to initiate an investigation under Section 2 of the Safety Investigation Act (525/2011) into a level-crossing accident that occurred at the Skogby level crossing in Raasepori on 26 October 2017.

A rail bus travelling from Tammisaari to Hanko collided with a Defence Forces high mobility terrain vehicle at an unprotected level crossing.

Safety Investigator Reijo Mynttinen (retired) is appointed as the Head of the investigation team, and Safety Investigator Hannu Hänninen, Lieutenant commander (ret.) Ari Kurppa, Master of Political Science Elli Flén, Paramedic (University of Applied Sciences) Mikko Virtanen and Nurse Jouni Kujala are appointed as members. The Investigator-in-charge is Esko Värttiö, Chief Rail Safety Investigator.
